Optimizing the role of the registered nurse key to patient safety
Registered nurses play a unique and critical role in the health care system based upon their primary mandate to protect the public – a principle they uphold each and every day. Expert training and academic preparation equip registered nurses with the knowledge to truly make a difference in the lives of patients and families. Optimizing the role of the registered nurse is key to fulfilling this public protection mandate. By ensuring the nursing process is fully implemented and through the coordination of care, patient safety and positive patient experiences and outcomes can be achieved.
